aug 28, 1906 - 1906-7: Largest US Outbreak of Typhoid and Typhoid Mary

Description:

There once was a woman named Mary Mallon, who was Irish and wanted to cook. But she had typhoid fever with no symptoms and her specialty was cold desserts, and in the end after an attempted investigation by George Sopher, 122 people were thought to have been infected by her. She was sent into involuntary quarantine on North Brother Island, freed when the populace became outraged and then returned to quarantine for the rest of her life after being found cooking at a maternity hospital that also had a typhoid outbreak.
