Though there is no specific date it started other than sometime in March of 1909, the Crazy Snake Rebellion was also known as the Smoked Meat Rebellion or the Crazy Snake's War. It was a conflict seen as fight between the Creek people and a group of American settlers. It entailed a theft of about 1,000 pounds of salt pork from smokehouses around the community of Pierce.
