14h 51min, may 1, 1816 y - Henry Clay's American System
Description:
The American System was an economic plan in the early 1800's. It was a plan to strengthen the nation using three parts - a higher tariff on goods, a national bank, and federal funds for canals, roads, and other improvements to the country.
Southerners did not like the tariff as they had to pay for canals and roads when they already had rivers to transport goods.
