jun 21, 1788 - The Constitution is Ratified

Description:

After the Revolutionary War ended, it became apparent that the government America was using would no longer work. The Articles of Confederation took away too much power from the federal government and caused many problems, such as states raising taxes and farmers losing their land because they could not pay the taxes. The federal government was not allowed to control the taxes the states made. This led to several rebellions, so the Continental Congress set out to create a new government that would allow equal power between the states and federal government. On June 21, 1788, the new law of the land, the Constitution, was ratified.
