The date is the year it was proposed- In an attempt of both NATIONAL INTEREST and HUMANITARIANISM, the government sought to include First Nations into Canadian society by abolishing the idea of the Indian status. Government felt that First Nations were marginalized and tried to include them which would then allow the nation as a whole to be one in liberalism. The First Nations responded to the White Paper through the RED PAPER, which showcased how they opposed the ideas that the government had presented.
