oct 16, 1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis
Description:
The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred due to Soviets having influence and nuclear missiles in Cuba which is in very close proximity to the U.S.. Meanwhile the U.S. had nuclear weapons in Turkey which is also close to the U.S.S.R.. This event was an intense representation of BRINKMANSHIP as they each were very close to starting a nuclear war. However, with both of them having weapons ready and capable, they had created a case of MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION. If one of them fired, the other would have followed suit leaving both of their countries destroyed.
