This was one of the subway stations that closed on December, 20 2005, when the transport workers union local 100 called a strike in NYC. Negotiations for a new contract with the MTA(Metropolitan Transportation Authority) broke down over retirement, pension and wage increases. After an agreement between the state mediator Richard Curreri and the MTA and a TWU team including Roger Toussaint for transit workers to return back to work for a time without contract.
