apr 13, 1608 - Samuel de Champlain Discovers Quebec

Description:

Champlain and his crew set sail for the St. Lawrence River. His goal was to start a new French colony. They stopped on the river and began to build forts and other buildings, which created the new colony. The location once belonged to kebec Indians, so Champlain spelled it Quebec. This discovery helped Champlain to defeat the Iroquois army, discover the Richelieu River, and become the 1st European to map Lake Champlain.
