mar 29, 1710 - Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in A Minor, Op. 3, No. 6 Vivaldi

Description:

Many of Vivaldi's compositions were composed for the women in the Pio Ospedale della Pietà, who were all orphans and often used this money they earned to support themselves.

In this piece, a solo violin "sings" its own unique part, often allowing said performer to show off her virtuostic abilities. Then, between each "stanza," the rest of the ensemble would perform an orchestral ritornello.
