mar 7, 1965 - Bloody Sunday

Description:

In response to Jimmie Jackson's death, groups such as the SCLC and others worked to organize a march from Selma to the capitol in Montgomery. Marchers were met with violence from state troopers after crossing the county line on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The march would be the first of three that would eventually result in the passing of civil rights legislation by LBJ.
