Description: Angered by the Tea Act, patriots boarded British ships and threw 342 chest of tea into the sea as act of rebellion
Cause: East India Company had 17 million pounds of tea to sell; in order to help them out, Britain passed Tea Act of 1773, which allowed for the company to send tea directly to America without paying taxes.
Historical Impact: British punished colonist with the Coercive Acts of 1774, which included the Boston Port Act, New Quartering Act, Massachusetts Government Act, and the Quebec Act.
