Kitab-ı Bahriye was a book created by Piri Reis who first published it in 1521. The book contains a series of portolan charts and maps. One of the maps is of the Europe and the Mediterranean. On this map, Reis drew an island just of the coast of Ireland. It was labeled the Island of Brazil which is a phantom island that have shown up in many maps preceding it .Added to timeline:
