Description:
The expedition, led by Spanish conquistador Ferdinand Magellan, arrvived at the island of Guam on March 6, 1521. Ten days later, they dropped anchor at the Philippine island of Cebu. There Magellan was hit by a poisoned arrow and left to die by his retreating comrades. After Magellan’s death, the survivors, in two ships, returned to Spain. This was the first expidition to successfully travel fully around the globe.
