oct 30, 1990 - IDEA

Description:

The Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), signed by President HW Bush in 1990. IDEA replaced the EAHCA of 1975 and added disability categories. In fact, the office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), led the charge for the addition of a separate category for ADHD. OSEP later finalized the categories and stated that students with ADHD could be served under one of more categories: Specific Learning Disability, Serious Emotional Disturbance, and/or Other Health Impairment.
