nov 21, 1937 - Stimulant Medication for Treatment of Children with Behavioral Disorders

Description:

Charles Bradley discovers the positive results of using a stimulant medication to treat children with behavioral disorders. As medical director of the Emma Pendleton Bradley Home, now Bradley Hospital in East Providence, Rhode Island, Bradley treated and studied children with neurological impairments that experienced emotional, learning, and behavioral difficulties.
Through his studies, Bradley's use of benzedrine targeted students who exhibited signs of ADHD, such as short attention span, hyperactivity and impulsivity. His studies and treatment of children at the Bradley Home were considered to be some of the most important contributions to psychiatric treatment.
