Description:

With rising political instability in Samoa, the United States intervened to avoid annexation by either Germany or the British, by annexing the island for itself.

However, Germany still wanted the Islands and in exchange for removing their claim, Germany was granted Haiti as a Client State. The Germans also leased the Island of La Gonâve, forming what would become known as the German Caribbean Triangle.
