This is one of the many wars that took place between the Persian Qadjar Kingdom and the Russian Empire. The Persian chah, Fath Ali, wanted to consolidate the northern markets of his empire by securing the lands near the south-west coast of the Caspian Sea (present-day Azerbaijan) and Transcaucasia (present-day Georgia and Armenia).
