mar 13, 1742 - Negro Acts

Description:

In the aftermath of the Stono Rebellion, tensions between the colonists and slaves were high, and in retaliation, the colony of South Carolina enacted the first Negro Act, which combined many slave codes into one act. This took away many rights that a normal person would have, from slaves, such as growing their own food, or reading.
