jan 8, 1763 - French and Indian War Ends

Description:

Sparked by territorial disputes in the Ohio River Valley, the French and Indian War was part of a larger “Seven Years War” between Britain and France. Involving intense fighting for many years in the Ohio River Valley and the edge of British colonies, the British were victorious over the French and their Indian allies. The conflict ended with the Treaty of Paris (1763) that gave Britain more territory but was overall a bad deal for the British. The war was also extremely expensive, leading to a series of highly unpopular taxes on colonists that would fuel their desire for independence.
