mar 4, 1860 - Lincoln Inauguration, Formation of Confederacy
Description:
At this time many Southerners felt that they were not represented well in the government with an increase support to the Republican party, which differed from their view point. And the Democrats, who they somewhat supported, did not have strong candidates. A group of Southerners had decided that if a republican would be elected as president during the election of 1860 then the south would secede. And the south did secede because Abraham Lincoln, Republican, was elected as President. This led to 11 southern states seceding from the Union leading to the Civil War.
