The south saw Abraham Lincoln's policies as dangerous to the southern identity and southern culture in general.Causes: The primary cause of the secession was the anti-slavery policy that Abraham Lincoln had, creating a negative reputation for him in most of the South.
Impact: The Union eventually won the Civil War, rendering the Confederacy's efforts in retaining slavery useless.
