Description:

After angry Republicans called for a convention conerning Black Codes, Democrats became suspicious and claimed the meeting to be illegal Because of this, a riot broke out, resulting in more than 150 casualties on African Americans. This event hightened the concern for reconstruction and brought attention to the flaws in current policies and leadership.
