Description:
This battle was one of the many won by Britain, but although the Americans lost it allowed them to regroup and fight another day, rather than dying for a battle they weren't going to win. General Washington surrendered in this battle because he knew the dangers. This surrender allowed him to escape with most of his army and fight another day.
