Description:

A mob called the Parisians, stormed the Bastille, a Paris prison. The mob overwhelmed the guard and seized control of the building. The angry attackers fought the prison commander and several guards to death, and then paraded around the streets with the dead men’s heads on pikes. Over 97% of the French population made up the third estate. The third estate was the lowest class which consisted of the poorest people in France. After dealing with high taxes and unfair treatment from the first and second estate, the third estate finally decided to fight back. This revolt was an act of rebellion from the third estate. This dramatic event was a huge mark in history which signaled the beginning of the French Revolution.
