Description:
The Lowell System took place generally around the early to mid seventeenth century.
This system focused on textile mills that used machinery and was especially known for the mass employment of young women.
The reason for the Lowell System chain in the United States was the boost production of textiles to meet increase demand, so they relied on women to carry out this work for them at factories.
The historical impact this had was that it set a new social norm for women to join the workforce instead of just being a housewife, and these factories showed the negative toll it had on the environment and on women phyiscally.
