mar 1, 1754 - Start of French and Indian war
Description:
The French and Indian war or Seven Years War was when the British fought the French in the American colonies over power. The war was essentially over who would control the Americas, and was sparked when the British tried to conquer the Ohio River valley, but the French protected the Natives from the British in order to maintain trade, so George Washington declared war on the French. The French and Indian war gave Britain immense territorial gains but also was a factor leading to the American Revolution due to taxes that had to be implemented to pay off war debts.
