Description:
Description - Peace Treaty that was made to end the War of 1812. Negotiations were held in Ghent, Belgium and it was signed 4 months later.
Causes - The U.S. and British were ready to end the war even though there wasn't an apparent winner. Both sides walked away believing they had won.
Historical impact - The U.S. was able to end British impressment of American sailors. This "win" also led to the downfall of the Federalist party because they were the ones who opposed the war.
