Description:

Numerous changes made to constitution of 1979 after Khomeini's death, most of which reduced the cleric's power. These amendments increased the size of the Assembly of Religious Experts, and allowed them to determine whether the Supreme Leader capable of carrying out his duties. Former president Khamenei takes over for Supreme Leader and is still the Supreme Leader today.
