dec 16, 1773 - Boston Tea Party

Description:

This was a political and mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts, in which the participants boarded docked ships and threw the crates of tea overboard and into the harbor. These actions were prompted by the slew of British taxes that colonists had to put up with as Great Britain attempted to pay off debt from the Seven Years' War.

As a result of the Sons of Liberty's actions, the harbor was closed and Britain cracked down on the actions of colonists with the following Coercive/Intolerable Acts.
