On September 11th, 2001, four planes were hijacked by al-Qaeda terrorists, two planes hit the Twin Towers, one hit the Pentagon, and one landed in a Pennsylvania field. More than 3000 people died in the terrorist attacks. The attacks prompted a significant fight against terrorism led by President George W. Bush. The effects of 9/11 can still be felt in 2019, as airport security is much stricter, and the war on terrorism is still raging on.Added to timeline:
