mar 8, 1965 - U.S. Enters Vietnam War

Description:

In 1965 President Lyndon B. Johnson sent over 100,000 troops into Vietnam in order to help the South Vietnamese fight off the communist northern opposition. As the war grew and the number of American troops being sent to fight increased, the American public became increasingly angry. Many protests fiercely opposing the war, specifically on college campuses, were staged. In the end, hundreds of thousands of American troops died in what is widely considered an unsuccessful war.
