may 17, 1954 - Brown vs. Board of Education

Description:

After his daughter was denied entrance to an all-white school in 1951, Oliver Brown sued the Kansas Board of Education. His case, combined with several others, was brought to the supreme court in 1952. The supreme court ruled in favor of Brown, articulating that the “separate but equal” school system was unconstitutional and unequal towards black students. This case was a big milestone in completely desegregating the United States.
