oct 19, 1929 - The Famous Five

Description:

The Famous Five Consisted of 5 women, Emily Murphy, Irene Parbly, Nellie McClung, Henrietta Edwards and Louise McKinney, these five women took issue with British North America act of 1867 which stated that a person shall be referred to as "He" many argued that this did not include women. On October 19th 1929 the Privy councli declared that "person" includes women. This is very significant because before this many women were not seen as people, but as objects by society at large.
