Storming of the BastilleOn August 14, 1789, the people of Paris stormed the Bastille, a government fort, because they believed that the government was stockpiling gunpowder. This was considered the start of the French Revolution. When they got inside, there was no gunpowder. Many prisoners were killed during the raid.
