0h 49min, may 30, 1854 y - 1854-1861---- Kansas-Nebraska Act

Description:

This act made it possible for the people to determine whether or not the Kansas and Nebraska territories would be free or slave states. This lead to conflicts between people for free-soil and people who are pro-slavery. This lead to “Bloody Kansas”, because it claimed the lives of 56 people. After some time both territories ratified anti-slavery constitutions. This contributed to the Civil War because it caused the conflict between anti-slavery and pro-slavery beliefs. This also introduced the idea of popular sovereignty, which would still cause a lot of conflict for the anti-slavery and pro-slavery people.
