Description:

A slave in South Virginia started an uprising. During this uprising Nat Turner killed around 60 white people. This riot was 2 days long, and it took military those two days until intervention. Not too lang after, Turner and at least 55 slaves were executed for what they did. After this Virginia lawmakers thought it best to lessen the civil rights of both slaves and free black people. This contributed to the Civil War because it created tension and debate over the topic of slavery and the amount of rights non-slaves and slaves should have.
