jan 7, 1779 - Ybarbo founded the town of Nacogdoches
In 1774, settlers settled near present day Madisonville. They were forced to move again in a couple of years, because of failures in their town. In 1779, without permission, Ybarbo led the settlers back to the abandoned East Texas to found the town Nacogdoches. They were their own civilization, and Spain had little control over what they could do.
