The Italian part of the European Revolutions of 1848 was led by Mazzini and Young Italy. These revolutions were very popular among the Italian people, but were silenced quickly by the Italian government. The risorgimento movement strengthened the desire to unify Italy. Following these revolutions, more supporters and more influential leaders of the risorgimento movement emerged.
