dec 16, 1773 - Boston Tea Party

Description:

On the night of December 16, 1773, members of the Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans and boarded three ships loaded with tea in Boston Harbor. Without harming the ships’ other cargo, they dumped the tea into the water. Thousands of people on the shore watched the events of the Boston Tea Party take place.

The Boston Tea Party was not the only act of colonial protest on tea. On October 14, 1774, in Annapolis, Maryland, a ship with tea was set on fire. King George was angry. Soon Parliament would pass new laws to punish the colonists for their actions. This would set the stage for more conflicts.
