Description:
It was a land purchase made by the USA from France. The western side of the Mississippi River was purchased for 15 million dollars (about 827,000 square miles). It is a very significant event as it increased the size of the US, and without this land, US wouldn't be the same as before. It was also a chance for the USA to gain control of the Mississippi river bank and expand westward.Added to timeline:
