Description:

Beowulf is the oldest epic written in old English and is dated to between 8th to 11th century. It's an epic story consisting of 3,000 lines. It commonly cited as one of the most important scripts and works of the old English literature. The author and the certain date of the manuscript are unknown.

This epic story is set in Scandinavia. Beowulf is the hero in the story come to the aid of Hrothgar, the king. The kings' Castell had been attacked by a monster known as Grendel. After Beowulf kills Grendel, Grendel's mother attacks the Castell and is the also killed. After victoriously winning the battles Beowulf returns home to Geatland in Sweden and later becomes king of the Geats. After a longer period, Beowulf defeats a dragon but is brutally wounded in the battle and passes away. In memory of his death, his attendants raise a tower in his memory.

It's a well-put story about a hero who brings safety to the people. It's understandable that it's a likable story. In 2007 a Hollywood movie was released based on the manuscript, with actors like Angelina Jolie.
