Description:
Athens suffered through the Polynesian War and three outbreaks which killed roughly 1/3 of it's population. Part of it was believed to be possibly typhus, an illness that has a few different types but the endemic form at least has been known to be spread by body lice using the bacteria ricksettsia prowazekii involving rash, chills, high fever, and confusion creating a mental "fog".
