mar 13, 1845 - Irish Potato Famine
Description:
The Irish Potato Famine occurred due to destroyed potato crops from the phytophthora infestans. This resulted in death or emigration of about 2 million people. The crops didn’t really fully recover until 1852. When the potato blight destroyed the potato crop, many people died and had typhus. Becoming beggars, they carried typhus with them and spread it quickly
