nov 9, 1405 - John Huss (1405)
Description:
John Huss was the voice of the discontented central European people. His religious ideas were not that different from Wyclif’s and Langland’s, however he also incorporated a nationalist theme to his movement, sparking off wars in Bohemia with his Czech and Slavic party trying to oust the supremacy of the Germans. Eventually he was declared a heretic and burned at the stake, yet his ideas had prompted decades of war in central Europe. (Palmer 53-54)
