jan 1, 1374 - Humanism (1374)
Description:
Humanism in literature began to develop the modern literature we have today, as the early modern writers began to write to actually explore themselves, their challenges, and their ideas for a larger audience. They had a distinct classical influence from the Greeks and the Romans, shunning the more recent medieval works of literature. Francesco Petrarch is one of the most famous writers of this movement and time period. (Palmer 61-65)
