Description:
This battle between Spain and England involved the largest fleet ever assembled on the Spanish side, and many small, light ships on the English side. The eventual victory of the English meant Spain couldn’t invade England and it had a role in the decline of Spanish preeminence over the continent. It also was a key factor in establishing the British naval superpower that was to come in the following centuries. (Palmer 127)
