Description:
This event was an important piece in the Catholic Reformation that was trying to end corruption in the church and refocus its ideals. In it, the Popes secured their Papal power over the church, the idea that tradition and scripture were on equal footing was reaffirmed, and a drastic reformation of monastic orders and priesthoods began. This was to be the most important council meeting of the Catholic church until the 20th century. (Palmer 94)
