jan 1, 1524 - Peasant Revolt in Germany (1524)
Description:
This revolt, touched off by radical new religious ideas, aimed to create new economic and social realities for the lower classes in the Holy Roman Empire. It was also formative of new social ideas that Europe, as a continent, would struggle with for centuries, such as why some should be poor and others rich, and it even can be seen as a precursor to other revolts later in European history. Even more than this, it represented a radical offspring from Luther’s very own ideas, which he condemned, and is a perfect example of the general unrest of the time following the Reformation.
