jan 1, 1469 - Marriage of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile (1469)

Description:

This marriage was the first act that brought together the nation we know today as Spain. At first it was a very tenuous union, if it could be described as a union at all, but eventually a more established nation formed that would be passed on to great kings and rulers like Charles V and Philip II. This is a more important event than the Habsburgs being elected to their first Holy Roman Emperorship because this formed a lasting nation, something that the Habsburgs were unable to do in Germany.
