Description:
This event marks Luther’s first challenge to the Catholic beliefs of the days and news of these theses spread all the way to Rome itself. This was the point of Luther’s career where he had gone to far to turn back; he had touched off a reformation that was bound to be bigger than himself, which is why it is more important than his Treatise on Good Works or On Christian Liberty. Those ideas could have been articulated by someone else, but not quite like how his 95 theses directly challenged church practices. (Palmer 80-81 and Notes)
